Our purpose is to make more accessible and boost the collective intelligence of our members (and the broader field of the Commons), by optimizing our knowledge ecosystem for relevance to our individual and collective needs of learning and action.

draft suggestion (from George):
The vital and complex questions introduced in these seminars do not have easy answers. Investigation into how the commons may federate and synergise the economic and social, philosophical, spiritual, and political spheres and facilitate the great transition to an equitable and sustainable world is an ongoing challenge. Only large-scale, collaborative enquiries into these topics have a chance to succeed.
Our work is to facilitate that inquiry support it by organising all our knowledge assets into a “Commons Rising” knowledge ecosystem, a key resource of the commons. That ecosystem will provide the bulk of the learning objects used in the Massive Open Online Courses on various aspects of the Commons.

Looking forward to collaborate with this group via the Mapping and Visual metaphors group on providing access points and navigation, so that any organisation or individual can find the resources relevant to their work and initiatives.
Comment by Janos Abel on May 25, 2012 at 23:50 Thank you for the inviting me to join this group.
I believe that knowledge is strongly influenced---if not determined---by context. And that context is our history as a society and, more fundamentally, as a species among all other species within the nurturing environment of the planet.
Comment by Janos Abel on May 27, 2012 at 14:55 There is an interesting article by Griff Rhys Jones in this edition of the Radio and TV Times in the Point of View section:
Time to get angry, The countryside is our birthright--let's protect it
Should CR contact him?
Could scan and upload the piece but am not sure about copyright issues.
Comment by George Por on May 27, 2012 at 14:58 CR is you. What would you tell him?
Comment by Janos Abel on May 28, 2012 at 23:48 If I could write a good letter to Rhyth Jones I would remind him that the countryside is part of other commons equally under threat from market-driven private "development" as profit making opportunities.
Then invite him to support the Commons Rising initiative whose aim includes the encouragement of local scale commoning but as part of a larger comprehensive plan to enhance the effectiveness all local initiatives in their effort to exert an upward influence within the planning process.
